Nyakiriket Consortium – (NYAKIRIKET CONSORTIUM (NC)) is a consortium of nine local non – governmental Organization. It has been established on 15th June, 2020 by the General Meeting conducted at Holistic Community Transformation organization (HOCTO) office in Kapoeta Town, attended by seven of the nine partnering organizations which were struggling to have centralized and pooled aid delivery system that will stream line aid and assistance delivery to our various communities in the Greater Kapoeta. After having tentative and in-depth consultations the founding members of this consortium resolved to have memorandum of understanding among its members and for the consortium to be registered in accordance with South Sudan NGOs act,
This consortium was formed according to the willingness of the partnering organization in a view to deal with the present socio-economic problems in different parts of greater Kapoeta by means of good understanding and sharing the problems each other and to find out the best way of solving the problems through free discussion and people participation in the decision making and get-together under an umbrella of Nyakiriket Consortium.
The meaning of “Nyakiriket” is a traditional sitting set up that is formed when Ateker community members sit for talk or traditional feasting. Mainly after they have some marriage disputes solved, conflict among community members is addressed, etc they always sit in order to celebrate their success. We chose this name because it exactly reflects what this consortium is meant for. In Nyakiriket we believe that all differences and problems are solved through dialogue, hence we opted to use this name.
In this regard, the consortium was officially registered on July 23, 2020 with the South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.
